A Sequel to the Bible???

Josie has been very interested in religion, she asked to attend an after-school bible program last school year, goes to GEMS (a church based program - a lot like girl scouts) and has been reading her childrens' bible.

It was this last activity that prompted this conversation as we were sitting in the Jeep waiting for Paul and Wyatt to come outside.

"Mommy! I NEED to get the next book! I can't WAIT to read it!" She was almost breathless as she is telling me this.

"What book?" Cause she is reading the BIBLE after all.

"You know...like the books you read. I want to read the next Bible."

Um-ok.

"Honey, there isn't another book that comes after the Bible." I hated to disappoint her, but I honestly couldn't think of another response.

"Yes there is! Look!" And she proceeds to flip to the back of the book and finds the very last page of the Bible where there is a drawing of Jesus - or God, I'm not sure. "Look! Right there! It says 'I'll come back'."

Um-ok.

I tried to explain the Bible to her, but she is fairly insistent that there will be or that there is a sequel.

For now, she is happy reading the Childrens' Bible over and over.

They STILL say the darndest things!

As the kids grow, it seems that they are constantly whining or complaining about something or another...however, every once in a while they still say things that make us laugh out loud.

Not long ago we were watching TV and something came on about sexual dysfunction. Josie caught that one right away and asked what "s-e-x-ual dysfunction" was. I laughed so hard I cried. Apparently, she can spell sex, but doesn't think that she can say it out loud.

While coming home from school, Wyatt says he knows exactly what to get his dad for his 50th birthday..."the Colonial Penn Life Insurance policy" Ummm, OK. When I started to chuckle, he asked me "don't you think Daddy would like that?" I answered back "sure he would honey, that is very nice of you to think about his birthday"...what else was I gonna say?

Sugar and Spice

Last night was a rough night for Josie (to say the least). She was tired and wouldn't give in and go to sleep, so things just kept getting worse and worse for her.

Eventually, she was pouring on the drama better than any award winning actress in recent history.

So, this leads into tonight. Josie and I were in Walmart, picking up a few things when she picks up a pink paint sample named "sugar and spice". She then begins to sing the "little girls are made of" song.

I tell her that I don't think it applies to her.

"why not? Its what little girls are made of" and proceeds to sing the song again.
"really? How about last night?"
"oh, that was the spice."
uh-huh. "really?" I am laughing at this point.
"yup...someday, I'm going to use up all of my spice and then I will be all sugar" She is VERY sure of this statement.
"are you trying to use it all up before you're 10?" This statement receives the legendary "MOM" look.

Chess Club Fun

Wyatt has developed a new interest in chess (a nice 'little' break from Pokemon). He decided that he wanted to sign up for a 6 week after-school chess 'club'. He really seemed to enjoy it.

Today, he "officially" became part of the TK Chess club "Pawn Storm". He was SO excited when he got his t-shirt that proclaimed him one of the team!

There is a chess tournament this Saturday, which he did decide to enter. I am so proud that he choose to venture from what he knows to something new. I am also glad that he enjoys chess.
